Welcome to Peter Doyle Bookbinding & Restoration online,

I started this trade as an apprentice bookbinder at T. Snape & Co Printers & Bookbinders, Preston in 1976. After passing City & Guilds exams in 1980 I moved to the Lancaster University Bindery undertaking Journal and Thesis Binding and also restoration work on antiquarian books held by the University.

During my time at Lancaster University I began to attract private commissions from Book dealers, Publishers and Collectors. By 1996 I was able to set up an independent Bindery catering for the Printing, Antiquarian, Publishing and Academic Trades. Over the last 25 years I have produced books for Cathedrals, Local Governments, Television and Sporting Clubs.
Journal Binding - Magazines and periodicals bound in good quality library buckram.

Restoration Binding - Refurbishment of antiquarian books keeping as much of the original binding as possible. Where the original binding is either missing or beyond repair, the new binding will reflect the age of the book, in style and in colour.

Thesis Binding - Students' thesis bound in good quality buckram to the specification of individual Universities.
Presentation Binding - One-off bindings for that special occasion, birthdays, marriages, retirements and many more. Books can be bound to the customer's design or left to the binders discretion.

Boxes and Slipcases - Protect your favourite books in custom made boxes or slipcases.
